Patient Participation Group

Patient Participation Group (PPG)

Helping Shape Nettlebed Surgery

The Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of volunteer patients who work alongside the team at Nettlebed Surgery to help improve services for everyone.

Our PPG provides a patient perspective on the services we provide, helps us understand what matters most to our patients, and offers constructive ideas for improving the way we deliver care and communicate with our community.

We are always looking for new members and would love to hear from patients who would like to become involved.

Interested in joining?

Please speak to Reception, telephone the surgery or complete our online contact form.

What does our PPG do?

The Patient Participation Group works in partnership with the Practice Leadership Team to:

  • Discuss proposed changes to services before they are introduced.
  • Review patient feedback and suggest improvements.
  • Help improve communication between the surgery and patients.
  • Support patient surveys and review the results.
  • Promote health awareness and community wellbeing.
  • Encourage feedback from all sections of our practice population.
  • Act as a constructive “critical friend” to help us continually improve our services.
  • Share ideas that reflect the needs of patients across Nettlebed and our surrounding villages.

The PPG represents the interests of the whole practice population rather than individual patients.

Working Together

The surgery regularly shares updates with the PPG about:

  • Service developments
  • Changes to appointments or access
  • NHS initiatives
  • Digital services
  • Patient communications
  • Future plans for the practice

Before significant changes are introduced, we seek the views of the PPG so that patient feedback can help shape our decisions wherever possible.

Meetings

The PPG normally meets every three months with members of the Practice Leadership Team.

Additional meetings may be arranged if important issues arise between scheduled meetings.

Minutes and agreed actions may be shared with patients where appropriate.

Current Committee Members

  • Gillian Ovey
  • Wendy Ayer Tilbury
  • Anabelle Boscher
  • Felicity Bazell
  • Anthony Morris
  • William Murdoch

What the PPG does not do

The Patient Participation Group is unable to:

  • Discuss individual medical care.
  • Resolve personal complaints.
  • Access confidential patient information.
  • Become involved in employment or staffing matters.
  • Influence individual clinical decisions.

If you have concerns about your own care, please contact the surgery directly using our normal procedures.

Why Join?

Joining the PPG is an opportunity to:

✔ Help improve local NHS services

✔ Make sure patients’ voices are heard

✔ Influence future developments

✔ Support communication between patients and the surgery

✔ Meet other patients who want to make a positive difference

You do not need any previous experience—just an interest in helping improve services for your local community.

We are looking for new members

We would particularly welcome applications from patients who can help us represent the diverse communities we serve, including:

  • Working-age adults
  • Young families
  • Carers
  • People living in our surrounding villages
  • Patients with long-term conditions
  • Younger patients
  • Older patients

The more representative our PPG is, the better it can reflect the views of all our patients.

How to Join

If you would like to become a member of the Patient Participation Group, please:

  • Speak to Reception
  • Telephone the surgery
  • Email Reception : bobicb-ox.reception.k84015@nhs.net
