Protect Yourself This Autumn – Covid and Flu Vaccinations 2026/27
Dear Patients,
The Nettlebed Surgery Covid and Flu Clinic dates will take place on Friday 2nd October and Saturday 3rd October from 8.45 -6.30 pm.
Invites will be sent to eligible patients and appointments can be booked by contacting the patient services team.
Who is Eligible?
Covid
Eligible Groups
- Older adults: Adults aged 75 years and over (including anyone turning 75 by 31 January 2027).
- Care home residents: Residents in care homes for older adults.
- Immunosuppressed individuals: Individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed.
Flu
Eligible Groups from 1 September 2026
- Pregnant women.
- All children aged 2 or 3 years on August 31, 2026.
- 2 & 3 year olds – The children’s nasal spray flu vaccine is safe and effective. It is offered every year to children to help protect them against flu. Children’s flu vaccine – NHS
- Children in clinical risk groups aged from 6 months to under 18 years.
- Young people aged 17 and over attending a special educational needs (SEN) school who are in a clinical risk group.
- Primary school and secondary school-aged children will be vaccinated at school (Reception to Year 11).
Eligible Groups from 1 October 2026
- Adults aged 65 years and over (including those turning 65 by March 31, 2027).
- Adults aged 18 to under 65 years in clinical risk groups. Clinical risk groups include individuals with chronic conditions (such as respiratory, heart, kidney, liver, or neurological conditions, and diabetes or lowered immunity).
- Residents of long-stay residential care homes.
- Carers receiving Carer’s Allowance or the main carer of an elderly or disabled person.
- Close contacts of immunocompromised individuals.
- Frontline health and social care workers.
- People experiencing homelessness (rough sleepers, homeless hostels, or night shelters) aged 16 years and over.
Vaccines:
Flu
This year we will be giving the Seqirus Cell-Based Trivalent flu vaccination which is an inactivated vaccine.
Covid
We have been allocated the Moderna Spikevax XFG vaccine.
On the Day
Our parking facilities are limited and if possible, please walk, get a lift or park elsewhere and walk to the surgery so that patients with limited mobility can park close to the surgery.
If you are unwell on the day, then we will be unable to give you the vaccination and you will need to rebook.
Please wear clothing that makes it easy for us to access your upper arm without you having to get undressed.
If you have been ill recently (including with Covid), it is OK to have the vaccinations as long as you are now symptom free.
Mobility ProblemsIf you are frail or unable to stand for a long period, then please make your way to the front of the queue where seating is available. We also have wheelchairs that may be borrowed to help with getting to and from the car park.
